US Highest Mass Shooting Rate in World? Not So Fast! [National, USA]

Dozens of news outlets reported that America has the most mass shooters in the world. Many say that shows America needs more gun control.


CNN claimed that "the U.S. has the most mass shootings". The WSJ reported that "U.S. leads the world in mass shootings." Nearly every major media outlet and former President Obama said the same.

But the claim is based on just one study, and the author of that study, Adam Lankford, would not release his data to other gun reseachers in the field.

But, does the US really have the highest rate of mass shootings?
The answer is no, not even close.
In fact, the US is not even top 50!

The media consensus reporting that the US is the world's leader in mass shootings is just something that is repeated and repeated.  It is based on ONE study, by a gentleman named Adam Lankford, and his research is QUESTIONABLE at best.  It seems Lankford may have fudged his data.  In fact, newer studies that are more inclusive estimate that the US is not even top 50 countries of mass shootings.  

But, the real question is, will the media report this?  The answer is, well, it hasn't yet and don't hold your breath.
